Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the Offline Bodyguard.

Q // What is the primary aim of M2M Sentry?

M2M Sentry provides Proactive Signal Information. It provides insights into who or what is trying to reach you by analyzing the carrier signals of the incoming call to determine if it's a Human or a potential Machine.

Q // In this context, what is a "Human"?

A Human call is one that originates from a standard physical device (like a mobile phone or landline) and is connected through a traditional carrier network. These calls lack the repetitive, high-entropy, or sub-millisecond connection signatures associated with automated systems.

Q // In this context, what is a "Machine"?

A Machine call is one that originates from an automated system, such as a VoIP Gateway, a Sim Farm, or an AI Voice Agent. These callers use high-capacity software to dial thousands of numbers at once. While they can be programmed to *sound* human, they cannot hide the technical "Machine Handshake" they use to connect to the phone network.

Q // How is M2M Sentry different from Google or Android Caller ID?

Google and Apple focus on Content Optimization. Their goal is to act as a digital secretary—screening calls by asking for the purpose of the call or transcribing voicemail in real-time. This is "Behavioral Screening."

M2M Sentry focuses on Signal Intelligence. Our goal is to verify the origin of the call. We use "Forensic Screening" to analyze Sim Farms and AI gateways before the call is even answered. We aim to identify the machines that are often designed to bypass behavioral screening.

Q // Why is M2M Sentry more "efficient" than built-in tools?

Efficiency in alerting is measured by Time-to-Detection.

Built-in tools require the caller to pick up and start a verbal interaction. This takes time (10-20 seconds) and adds friction for legitimate callers. M2M Sentry provides a technical advisory flag in milliseconds during the first ring, giving you the information you need with zero impact on the caller's experience.

Q // Doesn't Google already block spam calls?

Yes, Google (and many carriers) uses Blacklists. They track numbers that have been reported by thousands of people. This is **Reactive Blocking**. If a scammer buys a fresh batch of 100 SIM cards today, Google won't know they are spam until they've already called thousands of victims.

M2M Sentry is **Proactive Signal Information**. We analyze the technical signatures of automated devices (e.g., a Sim Farm or a Machine Gateway) as they connect. We don't need a blacklist; we provide the forensic insight directly to you.

Q // What if Google or Apple steals this idea?

Big platforms are built for the Average User. They prefer silent, automated systems that work behind the scenes. This often means they "silent block" calls or upload your data to their cloud for processing.

M2M Sentry is a specialized **Expert Tool**. We provide transparency and intelligence (Advisory Alerts) directly to you. Our commitment to a 100% Offline, Zero-Server architecture is something that global data companies like Google find very difficult to implement because it conflicts with their data-centric business models.

Q // Comparison: M2M vs. The Industry

Feature M2M Sentry Directory-Based Apps* Platform Assistants*
Privacy First 100% Offline Cloud Based (Mostly) Local
Contact Uploads NEVER Required* No
Sim Farm Detection Signal Based List Based Basic/None
Zero-Call Friction Yes Yes Interactive*

*Directory-based apps build their databases from community-uploaded contact lists. Platform call assistants require the caller to interact with an AI or wait for a voicemail transcript before screening is complete.

Q // What is a "Machine Gateway"?

A Machine Gateway (or M2M Gateway) is the "bridge" that connects a computer-based dialing system to the traditional phone network. Humans use physical phones; machines use high-capacity software gateways.

M2M Sentry analyzes the technical "tells" of these gateways—such as sub-millisecond connection timing and specific VOIP handshake signatures—that are never present in a genuine person-to-person call.

Q // What exactly is a "Sim Farm"?

A Sim Farm is a rack of dozens or hundreds of physical SIM cards controlled by a computer. Scammers use these to rotate through fresh numbers to bypass filters.

M2M Sentry identifies these farms by analyzing Numerical Entropy. We check if an incoming call is part of a mathematically related sequence of numbers—a core technical signature shared by SIM farm hardware.

Q // If an AI sounds perfectly human, how can you flag it?

We don't listen to the voice. M2M Sentry performs its analysis before you even answer the call.

While a machine might be programmed to sound human, it cannot hide the **Machine Handshake** it uses to connect. High-end AI Voice Agents require specific, high-performance VoIP gateways to maintain the low-latency needed for convincing conversations.

M2M Sentry identifies the technical signatures of these specialized gateways—timing, handshake metadata, and signal entropy—not the audio. We flag the delivery system of the AI, regardless of how "human" the voice sounds on the other end.

Q // Does the app block my calls automatically?

No. We believe you should have the final say. M2M Sentry provides an Advisory Alert — a visual overlay that gives you the intelligence you need to decide whether to answer or ignore.

Q // Isn't Google or Apple's way more "efficient"?

It depends on what you mean by efficient. If efficiency is time-to-advisory, M2M Sentry wins.

Google and Apple require the call to be "active" (either the AI is talking or a message is being left). This takes 10-30 seconds. M2M Sentry provides an advisory flag in milliseconds as the phone starts ringing. We don't need to hear the caller talk; we analyze the signal metadata.

Q // Will the app receive updates?

Yes. We are constantly refining our heuristic models to stay ahead of evolving Sim Farm tactics and new AI voice gateways.

We aim to release regular updates deemed where necessary, including signal forensic improvements, bug fixes, and new features based on customer feedback and suggestions.

Q // Does it work with my carrier?

Yes. M2M Sentry is designed to be carrier-agnostic. Because it analyzes the hardware signal at the point of connection on your local device, it doesn't matter if you are on Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, or a local provider.

Note: It also works with Wi-Fi Calling as long as the call is handled by your phone's default dialer.

Q // Does it protect against spam SMS/Text messages?

No. M2M Sentry is a call screening tool. It focuses on the signal forensics of real-time telephony connections. It does not scan your text messages.

Q // Does it work for WhatsApp, Signal, or Telegram calls?

No. M2M Sentry screens standard cellular and system-level calls. Third-party apps like WhatsApp use their own encrypted data channels which are not accessible by standard telephony security layers.

Q // Will the app drain my battery?

No. M2M Sentry is highly optimized. Our signal heuristics run in milliseconds only when a call is incoming. The app remains dormant the rest of the time, ensuring virtually zero impact on your battery life.

Q // Will M2M Sentry block 911 or emergency calls?

Absolutely not. M2M Sentry is designed to never interfere with emergency services. Furthermore, the app provides Advisory Alerts only—it never automatically rejects or blocks any incoming call.

Q // Does M2M Sentry record my calls?

Absolutely not. M2M Sentry only analyzes the connection signal metadata during the ringing phase. Once the call is answered, the app's analysis is finished. We do not listen to, record, or store the content of your conversations.

Q // What permissions does the app require?

We only ask for the minimum permissions required to function:

  • Call Screening: To analyze the signal while the phone is ringing.
  • Contacts: To identify your Trusted Contacts so we can suppress alerts for people you know.
  • Overlay Permissions: To show the Advisory Alert on your screen.

We do not require access to your location, camera, microphone, or text messages.

Q // Does the app use the internet or send my data anywhere?

No. M2M Sentry is 100% Offline. It does not require an internet connection to perform its analysis, and it does not have a "home" server to send your data to. Everything—from the signal heuristics to the advisory alerts—happens exclusively on your physical device.

Because we don't use the cloud, your data cannot be "taken" or leaked from our systems—because we don't have your data in the first place.

Q // Can I use it with other spam blockers?

No. Android only allows one app at a time to be set as your "Default Caller ID & Spam App" in your device settings. If you set M2M Sentry as your default to enable its signal intelligence, other third-party apps like Truecaller will not be able to screen your calls at the same time.

Q // Is M2M Sentry free?

No. Unlike other blockers that charge monthly subscriptions, M2M Sentry is a premium intelligence tool available as a one-time purchase of just $2.99 from the Google Play Store. Once you buy it, it is yours to keep forever.

Q // Does it work internationally?

Yes. M2M Sentry's core threat detection — SIM Farm identification, Neighbour Spoofing defence, and automated dialling pattern analysis — works on every Android phone in every country in the world, as it runs entirely offline using a globally comprehensive phone number library.

It also works partially in the United Kingdom. Support for other international regions is being evaluated for future updates.

Q // What if the app flags a legitimate call by mistake?

Security is always a balance. No system is 100% accurate, which is why there is always a chance of a "False Positive." This is why M2M Sentry provides Advisory Alerts instead of automatic blocking. You always see the reason for the flag and remain in total control of the call.

Q // Why should I consider M2M Sentry over other caller ID apps?

The core difference is a fundamental conflict of interest. Many popular caller ID apps are free because your data is the product. When you install a directory-based caller ID app and grant it access to your contacts, it typically uploads the names and phone numbers of every person in your address book — including people who have never consented to be in that database — to commercial servers. This is how those directories are built and monetised.

M2M Sentry has no such conflict. We earn a single payment at the point of purchase. After that, the app works entirely offline, on your device, for you. Your contacts are never uploaded. Your call history is never sent anywhere. There is no server that could be breached because we simply do not hold your data.

Q // Is the $2.99 price justified?

We believe so, and here is the honest reasoning behind it.

Every free alternative has a cost. That cost is either your data, your privacy, or the contact information of people who never agreed to be in anyone's database. With M2M Sentry, $2.99 is the entire cost. There is nothing else. No monthly fee, no advertising, no data harvesting, no recurring charges.

To put it in perspective: $2.99 is the cost of a single cup of coffee. In return, you receive a permanent, offline, privacy-first signal intelligence tool that analyses every incoming call for the lifetime of your Android device. The app is also fully compliant with GDPR, CCPA, and PIPEDA privacy regulations by design — not because we are forced to comply, but because we never collect your data in the first place.

If that is a price worth paying to know that your contact list and your call history belong entirely to you, then yes — we believe it is justified.

Q // Is there an iOS version?

No. M2M Sentry is Android-only. The technical signal analysis required for our screening logic is not possible within the current architectural restrictions of iOS. We do not have plans for an iOS release.

Q // How do I report a bug or an incorrect verdict?

We genuinely want to hear about incorrect verdicts or unexpected behaviour. Every report helps us improve the signal heuristics for everyone. If you encounter an issue, please contact us via the Google Play Store review or support channel and include the following information so we can investigate effectively:

  • App Version: Found in your Google Play Store under "M2M Sentry" → "App details". (e.g., Version 1.14)
  • Android Version: Found in your phone's Settings → "About phone" → "Android version". (e.g., Android 13)
  • Device Model: The make and model of your phone. (e.g., Samsung Galaxy S22, Google Pixel 7)
  • Mobile Carrier: Your network provider. (e.g., Verizon, EE, Vodafone)
  • Country: The country your SIM card is registered in.
  • What happened: A brief description of the incorrect verdict — for example, "A call from a family member was flagged as a SIM Farm" or "A known spam number received a Verified Human badge."

Please do not share the full phone number of any caller in your report. The last 4 digits and the country code are sufficient for us to investigate the number type classification.

Advisory Notice & Accuracy Disclaimer: M2M Sentry provides informational advisory flags based on signal heuristics and carrier-level data. These verdicts are probabilistic in nature and are not guaranteed to be accurate for every telephony event. False positives (a legitimate call flagged as suspicious) and false negatives (a machine call not flagged) are both possible. The information provided by this app is intended for security awareness purposes only and should be treated as guidance, not a definitive judgement. M2M Sentry never automatically blocks any call. You always retain full control. Always use your own caution and judgement before interacting with unknown callers or sharing sensitive personal information.
